15 March, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
QuantuMDx Group Limited, a multinational life sciences tools and diagnostics developer based in Newcastle upon Tyne, has been named as a finalist for two awards at the Medilink UK Healthcare Awards.
Disruptive DNA extraction kit Q-PREP™ has been recognised in the Outstanding Achievement category. Q-PREP is six times faster and significantly easier to use than the current industry standard, allowing laboratories to dramatically optimize their time and resources by creating a more efficient workflow.
A nomination for the Innovation category was awarded for invention the Internet of Life™, a real-time map of global pathogens. This surveillance system will visualise disease data gathered by a network of handheld DNA analysers called Q-POC™, enabling the rapid mobilisation of resources to tackle emerging infections such as Ebola and Zika.
COO Sam Whitehouse PhD said “To see our achievements recognised nationally by Medilink is a testament to both our technology and the dedicated QuantuMDx team behind it. We’re excited that the hard work put into developing our technology, technology that we hope will improve global health and empower communities to thrive, has been recognised by nominations in the Innovation and Outstanding Achievement categories and we are looking forward to hearing the outcome of the nominations at the Medilink awards ceremony on the 20th April.”
The Medilink UK Healthcare Awards ceremony will be held on the 20th April 2016 in Coventry as part of Med-Tech Innovation EXPO 2016. Further details about the awards finalists and the awards ceremony can be found here.
